The world we live in today was not the same as before, it has been shaped after passing from different times of struggle and bloodshed. Ramadan apart from the month of fasting is the month to honor the sacrifices and the survival of those Muslims who helped in reviving Islam back at the time of Muhammad (PBUH).
Month of Thanksgiving and reflection:
Ramadan is more than the month to focus on self-purification. It helps in recalling all the past events that laid the foundation of Islam that helped in eradicating all the pernicious conspiracies against Islam and flourished the true commandments of Allah hence it is a month of celebration, thanksgiving and reflection.
Historical Events:
Battle of Badar is the defining moments in the history of Islam. In this battle, the Prophet (PBUH) and his 313 companions faced the idolaters of Quraish who had outnumbered them in army, supplies, and wealth. When the prophet (PBUH) saw the Quraish army, he raised his hands and prayed to Allah that if today this small band perished then no one would be left to take or worship your name ever. Allah helped the Muslims by sending angels and helped them in defeating Kufars of Quraish tribe. About the battle of Badar Allah says in the Quran:
“And already had Allah given you victory at [the battle of] Badr while you were few in number. Then fear Allah; perhaps you will be grateful. [Remember] when you said to the believers, "Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord should reinforce you with three thousand angels sent down?” [Quran 3:123-124]
Conquest of Mecca
The conquest of Mecca is an event in which the companions of Muhammad (PBUH) liberated the vicinity of Mecca by destroying the idols. This event took place after the agreement that had been breached by Quraish by attacking the allies of Muslims, bani Khuzaah. Muslims when took Mecca back they demolished the temples of Suwaa and Manat, the three famous idols in the temples of the neighboring tribes.
Revelation of Quran
“The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion.” [Quran 2:185]
Allah (SWT) revealed the Quran to Prophet (PBUH) in the month of Ramadan. It is an ultimate source of guidance for humankind that addresses all the major issues and has solution of all problems be worldly or eternal. Allah says in the Quran:
“And it is not for any human being that Allah should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a partition or that He sends a messenger to reveal, by His permission, what He wills. Indeed, He is Most High and Wise.” [Quran 42:51]
Quran recitation is highly recommended in Ramadan, which is only possible if you only know how to pronounce Arabic Alaphbets. The following Hadith shows how important Quran Reading is in Ramadan:
“Ibn 'Abbas narrates "that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was the most generous person, and he would be at his most generous in Ramadan because Jibril would come to him every night and he would rehearse the Qur'an with him." [Sahih Al-Albani]
